You Never Know Who’s Watching

You Never Know Who’s Watching

You never know who’s watching. Your actions are always being watched.  I don’t say that to be negative but I say that so we can be more aware of our personal influence.

I got into sports performance coaching to bring the individual greatness out of young people.  We can teach these athletes so much about the X’s and O’s of skill development but sometimes we forget that our IMAGE and the EXAMPLE we set are more impactful than our words.

We recently had a team meeting where a psychology and sociology professor performed an experiment to increase the love and appreciation for each other. This experiment caused us to shed tears and express our deepest feelings about each other as coaches and players. I had multiple players come up to me and share that I’ve made a large impact on their lives just by the way I carry myself.

Some said that they never saw a black man carry himself with so much authority and strength outside of their fathers. This moved me to tears because that’s one of the things that I try to work on every single day.

Your image is powerful.

The way that you carry yourself is impactful. It’s important that as leaders are aware of this example.

We love our superheroes because of their superpowers but we also love them because of how they appear.

What is the message that you’re projecting with your image?

Be careful, because you never know who’s watching.
